Context

When my parents were young, they used to bring an empty bottle to the local sauce shop to get soy sauce every month. At that time, soy sauce was sold by weight so people can buy any amount they need.

Problem

However, this sold-by-weight culture faded out after supermarkets and online shopping began to dominate people's lives. As a result, most of the Millenials and Gen-Zs grew up without knowing this tradition.

Approach

酱(Sauce)is a brand I created to promote zero-waste sauce refill culture in Shanghai. I target Millenials and Gen-Zs to bring back this sustainable tradition.
